In January 2019 we took delivery of our 60 instruments. Right away we took them to the band and gave them to our players. We now allow parents to join the band and learn and Sir Peter Soulsby, the Mayor had a go when he visited the band at our Band Camp. With our spare instruments we run taster sessions for other community groups.

We have had waistcoats made for the band by a highly skilled local tailor. The band players wore the waistcoats proudly when they played carols in Leicester’s New Market Square at Christmas.

In the February half term we held our first Saff Band Camp at the local Kingfisher Community Centre. All players learned a piece for their first ABRSM Music Medal and some of them performed this at the end-of-camp concert.

Jon Read, one of our supporters, visited the band at the Band Camp and has offered to produce the CD at his recording studio. This is planned for the Summer Term.
