Joining a band begins with learning to play, but i Joining a band begins with learning to play, but it can bring so much more. A weekly rehearsal gives people a regular place to go, familiar faces to look forward to seeing and the chance to feel part of something. Through taster days and have-a-go sessions at community events, we take our colourful plastic brass instruments out into towns and villages across Cumbria. They offer an easy, accessible way for people of all ages to try brass playing—often for the very first time. We can then help interested players find their nearest community band and discover how they can continue. Because every lifelong brass player has to start somewhere—and sometimes it begins with one plastic instrument and the confidence to have a go.
