BRASS INC. is a unique inclusive brass group which is held every Thursday  in Penrith.

Working with people with and without SEND, Drum and Brass facilitates this music group in collaboration with “My Community”. Sessions combine instrumental skills-teaching with a creative approach to music-making.

Improvisation, storytelling and exploration of sound are taking us to new places for brass with refreshing new voices for our sector.

It is supported by My Community/4 Eden after a successful 6-month pilot, which ended in Music and Mocktails a performance with other learning groups

Working with young service users, we devised a pilot programme for adults which would be instrumental skills-based, creative and open to all.

10 months on and Brass Inc. is now a strong and engaged musical community which has performed in Penrith.

Facilitator Julie says “I’m there to help people learn basic skills on their instruments, to source music that everyone can take part in, whether by reading or improvising, and making sure that everyone is included. Players can choose from a range of instruments and borrow them to practice. Some people come to learn a second instrument, some enjoy creating rhythms on hand drums, all are welcome.”
