Helping Cumbria’s training brass bands welcome new players and support them as they grow.

Participation to Pathways brings bands together to test practical ways to improve first access to music, recruitment and player progression. Seven training bands have joined the project. New bands, connections and training opportunities have grown from their work together.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Bands are getting to know the people around them through conversations, focus groups and taster sessions. They are asking who can already find them, who cannot, and what might help more people take part.

PLAYER PATHWAYS

Each band can try ideas that make the journey from a first visit to confident playing clearer. That might mean a welcoming beginner session, useful teaching resources or milestones that help players see their progress.
